Lawyer, writer and public speaker
As a university student Phoebe Young suffered a severe illness which left her a triple amputee and legally blind. After a gruelling rehabilitation and multiple surgeries, Phoebe learnt to walk on prosthetic legs and returned to university to obtain Arts and Law degrees with honours. She has worked as a lawyer in the Supreme Court of Queensland and in not-for-profit community legal centres in Queensland and Western Australia. Phoebe’s triumph over the tragic illness that left her permanently disabled at just 18 years of age is striking and the way she shares her story with people is both relatable and uplifting. Phoebe is currently Ambassador to the Queensland Eye Institute and lives with her husband and two young children in Brisbane.
